Fall Gardening 2 ~ Planting

Things have been moving right along. Despite the fact that we had really high temps in July and August, actually triple digits and drought, there are plants still growing. The most amazing is the parsley which is still doing well in the greenhouse. I just cut it all down a few days ago, but we should have another harvest soon…

And despite the cicada killers, squash bugs, turkeys, deer, and other varmints that have made their mark…we still have a garden and here is a little slide show to prove it…

We planted Brussels sprouts, radicchio, red lettuce, green lettuce, 2 kinds of kale, 2 kinds of dwarf bok choy, and radishes in the greenhouse. It is a little late in August, the 22nd to be exact, but we really had to wait until the temperatures were at least in the 90s.

The pumpkins are tiny about the size of a quarter…and there are lots of them! I really hope they grow well now…

It’s August 13th and the weather has been gorgeous this summer…not like last year.  I’m going to plant seeds today in starting pots…

Blue Curled Scotch Kale, Canton Bok, Catskill Brussels Sprouts, Chives, Spinach and 3 kinds of lettuces from Baker Creek.

I want to find some cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower plants to set out and I still need radish seeds.
